Sorry to hear this MelK. I guess you're on a baby aspirin protocol now? Speedy healing and may you never experience another one. Scary stuff.

I'm so sorry 😔 What happened to bring it on? Try to take it slow 🦥 as possible things will be a bit difficult for a bit but you will get your groove back. Journal your journey my Mom had some differences that she didn't notice that we were able to help with and some memories were damaged so this was something we did to help her feel not only more in control but to catch these changes. I'll give you a couple of examples she accidentally de-aged me 5 years ( she had some memories of the time but in her mind I was five years younger 🤷), some of her habits changed she never used a straw at a restaurant (always uses a straw now), forgot a lot of names/recipes/some faces etc. not that this will be your experience but it may still help you. I really wish you the best of recoveries so sorry that Christmas was such a hard time.

Ann - I've actually been on a baby aspirin for years due to some weird labs they thought indicated a clotting disorder but I was never sent to hematology and no more was said. Going to the doctor today for more labs and then probably an upgrade to Plavix.
Leah - thanks for the info. I don't know what to expect and I am SO nervous about going back to work. Thankfully it was just a TIA but I'm reading about people who have memory issues, personality changes, increased anxiety, etc after TIA. I am unsure what to expect. I'm hoping my doctor can give me more perspective.

Well the biggest thing about the changes is that she perceived no difference between the two. In addition when she forgot the persons name etc she hadn't forgotten the person just little bits so that was something but it was really frustrating for her. Some memories and things came back and some honestly never did. She was able to get back into the regular swing of things very quickly but it was the weirdness of the things that were different for her that bothered her if that makes sense. The feeling of things not being quite right like when you have a 🤏 small amount of vertigo going on and world keeps slipping. I wouldn't say her personality changed but it was a challenging experience which I think 🤔 would make anyone act a little differently for a while when figuring out what's what. It only sounds "normal" to me.

Leah - the vertigo is the worst. I feel like I'm falling down or tipping over every time I get up to walk somewhere. I am sure I look drunk. It surprises me to have this sort of deficit when it was "just" a TIA. I had always thought everything goes away immediately after TIA but the PT and OT said it may not. That scares me.

Mel, i had a terrible vertigo experience 5 weeks ago and am still experiencing it. They thought perhaps i had had a stroke also but ct scans and mri ruled that out. I still have the spinning/swimmy feeling going on. Things that are helping: when getting up from prone position sit up for 60 seconds. Then stand for 60 seconds. Then walk. They are also sending me to a vestibular physical therapist to learn how to get it as manageable as possible. My mom had a multiple TIA’s when she was in her 50’s and did seem to fully recover over time so hopefully that is your experience as well. Sending you wishes for a full and speedy recovery. Make sure you are getting plenty of fish oil and other brain protective supplements. Talk to your neurologist about this ok. My doc doubled my fish oil to 4 caps a day for 30 days then back to 2 and doubled up on my b-12 and some other things to help with recovery. Hope this helps.
