Thought I would share a helpful TIP for my FS buddies. One of the secrets to eliminating belly fat is coconut oil. (I've lost 20 inches in my gut alone by following LCHF and including CO regularly in my diet.) My favorite treat is my morning "Latte'" - also known as Bullet Proof Coffee (google for plenty of resources). It is wonderful for your mental acuity and energy! Also, it is filling - so you won't even think about eating or craving until the next meal time. This stuff ROCKS! -- Here's how I make mine:

1 heaping teaspoon of coconut oil.
1 good size pat of butter
brewed coffee/any
sugar-free coffee flavor/syrup (or Splenda) -- I buy Orchard Park yummy syrups at the Dollar Tree. Caramel, French Vanilla and Hazelenut -- all taste great!
I add a scoop of protein powder (find one that is whey based, or very low in carbs - like 0 or 1. Any flavor is good -- I use both Chocolate and Vanilla)
Blend the concoction in my Nutribullet. Comes out foamy on the top - and I sprinkle a good amount of cinnamon on top for added flavor; plus cinnamon is excellent for lowering blood sugar - so any one with a metabolic resistance (hard to lose weight) should be having it regularly.

This is such yummy goodness and really decadent! So rich and frothy. Nothing better than sipping my bullet proof coffee on a chilly morning on the front porch ; looking out and admiring the mountains in the distance.

I agree Evie,, I have been using CO in my coffee for a while now,, I don't care for sweet though,, so I just use Heavy cream,, sparingly . and I am hooked on a quick spin in the Blender to make it frothy. My husband thinks I am crazy,, but that's ok. and sometimes a Pat of kerrygold butter,, is so yummy . I haven't looked at the protein powder,, But plan to do that,, thanks so much . I also give it to my dogs for a treet ,,they Love it,, just a little on a Blue berry every Day .

Thanks for this. Although not a fan of bullet proof coffee, I cannot say enough good things about coconut oil. How can something so good actually be good for you!

Tamarah Jo, I am so glad you share it with your dogs! It is so wonderful for them! Great for their coat, digestive health, joints, and cancer preventative for them! I give my lab a spoonful a day -- she scarfs it right up - and comes a'runnin' when I take the lid off. My vet always compliments her super high-shine coat -- and I attribute it much to her coconut oil addiction. :)

It is GREAT stuff BuffyBear! And wanted to say thanks to you for your very sweet "tortoise and the hare" compliment on my journal last week. It encouraged me. I appreciate you very much, friend!

i love coconut oil, too! i don't drink coffee, and didn't like it added to my tea so i just eat a tablespoonful of it twice a day! it was strange at first, but now that i'm used to it, well, yum!!

Have read so much about Bullet Proof Coffee and am now happy to know of people who do it and swear by it. I had thought about ingesting it straight myself. I do use CO in my Mimms and cooking and figured that I was at least incorporating it daily. Your loss has really inspired me to try harder....and I appreciate you taking time to share some of your tips with the rest of us. Thanks, Evie....

I don't drink coffee or tea. What other way can I incorporate coconut oil in my diet. Do I buy it at the health food store or at the grocery store?

@Evy, either... Local grocery stores would carry it - or places online. I've gottem them both ways. Since you are not a tea or coffee drinker, no worries -- you can drink by heating up water and drop in a few drops of lemon oil/extract for a warm treat. Or just cook/bake w/ it. I use it when I grill chicken/steak, or sautee vegetables. Also, google Fat Bombs -- lots of resources, and coconut oil is a staple -- and they are nice for ppl on Induction to eat - so they can be sure to get in enough healthy fats during the day. Flavored with cocoa powder, they are really yummy, Evy.

From yesterday - I know so many who slow down in the rate of their weight loss and give up. You realize the value of what you have done and the importance what you have left to do. The time it takes is not all that important in the big scheme of things.
