I knew you would do great! You're going to end up just like me: I signed up for my first 5K next fall. Learning to run changed me. I trust myself now! I know I can do whatever I set my mind to, even this thing that seemed impossible less than a year ago :) Can't wait to hear about your experience with it :)

I am looking for a 5k to shoot for. All of the ones I have found are less than nine weeks away, which is how long the c25k takes. I am going to keep looking!

Byrdface: You might be kind of out of luck, as summer is prime 5K time, but look for Turkey trots in your area -- Thanksgiving Day runs. Well, if you don't live in a snowy climate, that is. Many places also have a fall run, something in October or so.

I live in OHIO!!!! Definately a snowy climate, but thanks for the tip! I will check it out!

Ha! Well, I used to live in Indiana, so probably no turkey trot for you. :) But we did used to have a Salmon Chase fall classic (October-ish), so not all hope is lost. Great job on starting the program, btw. 5Ks are awesome.

I googled it and we do Turkey Trots! There are 5k's all through the year up to Thanksgiving! I am so excited! Thank you, Jazzy Jogger! How long have you been running?

Sweet! Glad to be of help. I'm not much of a runner. I've been jogging/walking 5Ks off and on since 2003. On April 11 I ran my first 5K in 2.5 years, and I'm signed up for another one on Memorial Day. That one is called, appropriately, the "No Excuses" run. :) I hope that by the end of the summer, I can (finally) complete one without walking. 5Ks are some of the cheapest fun you can have. There are so many people there in so many different stages of stamina/running shape/whatever that basically it's always a race against yourself. As a bonus, you get a shot of race-day adrenaline, some music on a loudspeaker, water stations, a T-shirt, and if you're lucky, fruit.
