Need my head examined; hosted a dinner party last night for 12 people. The theme was "breakfast for dinner" so I prepared a couple decadent quiches, homemade red flannel hash, pumpkin waffles with pancetta, bite-sized bagels with cold smoked salmon and chevre, and many other things. The way I handled the day: Eat Jenny Craig for breakfast, skip lunch/snack, leaving about 1200 calories to exploit for dinner. I tried to keep my fat intake for the day at about 30 grams, but I'm not sure if I made it. Basically, I ate very small portions of everything.

For the menu in general I tried to emphasize flavors and variety instead of big portions. I used almost all locally grown vegetables and eggs and such. I offered tasteful portions that were not tiny, but not typically huge. People seemd to have a nice time.

For me, it was a good test of resolve and aside from a few sips of champagne (I served apple cider mimosas) or wine here and there I think I did well. This morning I was 1.5 lbs lighter despite it all! Must have been all the scammering around the kitchen I had to do from sun up to sun down to make the dinner happen!
