You are building muscle by exercising. That's fine, in fact great. Muscles support joints, improve posture, firms and sharpens in good ways. Also muscles burn energy (stored energy is fat) so the more muscle the more you burn calories all of the time, even at rest. You will see weight loss, be patient, you are creating the foundation for a better you. YEA Kim !

Focus on the inches, not the number on the scale. Did you measure? If not, do that and then re-measure in 30 days. That is where the results are measurable. Also, if you are feeling better, have more energy, etc. then you are on the right path. Don't get discouraged if the scale isn't your friend - the scale is the last thing you should use to judge your success.

LOL, you're funny! I have had those days, but minus the walking and seeing the clothes difference. . Sometimes walking can make youre legs retain water, are you sore at all? There a clue.

I'd rather have good fitting jeans than a worthless number from a scale.

While a pound of fat equals a pound of muscle on the scale, it doesn't equal in space. Muscle is much more dense and so that's why inches really count!

if you SEE something happening, then there IS something happening! I been looking at the same number at my scale for over three months, but i DO fit a dress i used to wear in highschool that i could (for sure) not wear three months ago... try measuring BF (fat percentage) instead.

Worry about the clothes...the fat will take care of itself if you're doing the right things, Girlie!

Muscle weights more than fat. You are tightening up

Ditto Frenchie, Buffy, and Puhpine's thoughts. I hope you realize that you are not alone. That's at least something to take comfort in. Also I suggest considering what your standard for success is and if that's a reliable metric to place your hopes on because it sounds like you are doing a good job and are not feeling accomplished because you results don't match your predetermined image of success. Good luck!

You may want to try cutting out the bubbly :). While it may not have carbs or calories per se your body will burn it before calories until its out of your system. Which slows your weight loss

Look at your bofyfat percentage instead of your weight! This is a really good thing. You are changing you body composition. The number on the scale will eventually catch up so don't worry! Great job girl! Keep it up :)

Key word: "started". Give it time and you'll get there!

I agree with Lauraab--muscle mass weighs more than fat.

I read the previous comments...all good advice...muscle does weigh more than fat...since you're doing all this work, you're developing muscle...that's a good thing...the muscles will burn the fat faster...don't worry about the weight...focus on the inches...if you're going down in sizes, you're accomplishing you're goal...outstanding work!!!!

i feel for you. ive also done the walking and a little diet but my weight is still the same. i do hope stephicat is right, muscle development...

Stephcat, I agree with you. But there are some out there that get silly and begin arguing that muscle doesn't weigh more. And I suppose they are right, it actually weighs more by volume. I think people that pull you up on such a detail are being pretty pathetic, but I am mentioning it to warn you that there are such people out there and you might well suffer their attentions.

Oh that's cool. Everyone has a right to their opinion. It isn't going to change the science behind this. You take the same amount of fat cells and compare their weights to the same amount of muscle cells, the muscles are going to weigh more. You take a pound of fat cells and compare it to a pound of muscle cells, they're going to weigh the same but the mass is going to be different i.e. you're going to have more volume of fat than you're going to have of muscle. This is why weight is the least important thing to be worried about when you are dieting. It's more important to concern yourself about what you're eating and is it healthy. Or how much you're using your body. Because, in the end, those are the factors that determine what your weight will be. It's too bad we've been taught to focus on fat instead of on health.
