D'oh! The dangers of making granola is the ease of snacking on it. It is sooooo calorie dense that even a "little nibble" is a significant impact on RDI. :( Must resist.

On a side note, it kind of ticks me off that I notice making food from scratch doesn't always make it reduced calorie or fat. I enter the recipe information and discover, to my dismay, that the dietary difference is negligible or my food is heavier. I think it may be other food additives that impact the purity of individual serving so it skews the results. HOWEVER, I REFUSE, I absolutely refuse to resort to toxic chemicals like margarine or splenda. The long term health impact of those nutritional travesties is not worth the short term benefits of lower calorie treats.

You have to remember making it at home you are not including all the chemical ingredients that are found in the food you by thus making it healthier over all.. sure the calories/fat etc. may be similar but there are no crap fake chemicals in your food, and you know exactly what you are putting in your body.
