I did something really stupid this morning. I ate a bunch of bread when I knew better. Now a large part of me is wanting to graze more because I've already screwed the day up pretty well. Stupid irrational feelings. I don't want to keep gaining weight. I think I may have finally gotten to a place where I am maintaining my weight instead of gaining, but I am struggling to do it.

I don't know how to move on from the back slide I've had. A whole year and all my progress gone. I am glad that it doesn't look so obvious how fat I've gotten, but when I see myself naked I can't avoid the harsh truth that I lost control of myself and have a long way to go.

Don't concentrate on the mistakes, and realize you can move toward the goal by making choices to always start back up in the right direction. Hang in there!

Here's a good Jillian Michael's analogy for your situation: You're crusiing along and get a flat tire. Do you stop and slash the other 3 tires? Of course not- you fix the flat one and get moving again! It's absurd to the extreme to throw away all the good because of one bad, so don't give into that "the day is shot anyway" mentality! Spend a few minutes making a plan for controlling the damage for the rest of the day and go with it. I sometimes find that when I snack too much in the afternoon, I'm not as hungry in the evening so I can get back on track. I also don't think you've wasted the last year as long as you've learned from it. Spend some times thinking about your setbacks- why they happened, what set of circumstances contributed, what you can do to avoid them and some ideas for how to recover better when they do occur. Remember, we learn from our mistakes, not our successes!

Thank you for the encouragement, I know I need it. Doing a bit better now. (I haven't done any grazing and I waited til I was hungry to have lunch instead of going by the clock.) My husband encouraged me to do a p90x workout, which I did, though I can tell I didn't give it my all. I may do some more weight training later today too. Trying not to give up, so far, so good.
