Journal de mandypdavis, 20 janv. 08

I will actually start the low GI diet tomorrow. I went grocery shopping this afternoon and have foods on hand for next week. I think this will be easier than trying to count calories and fat and keeping up with every detail. My history is that diets tend to consume me and I spend my thinking time trying to figure out what I'm going to eat when. Then I'm "hungry" from thinking about what I can or cannot eat! I really think that this seems like it will be better for me healthwise too. I've talked with my doctor about it and he is very supportive. I'm actually very healthy,(thank you Lord!) and my doctor feels like this is a very good choice for me. Give me tips and encouragement please.

Well done! I think this diet is a very sensible way to eat, and you don't have to worry about counting points, or watching calories..... just stick to the right "whole" foods. No sugar, low fat, cut down on starchy carbs. You will feel fuller for longer, so not always thinking about food. Although I have spent a lot more time cooking and really enjoyed it since I started this diet a few months ago. If you cut down on coffee/ sugar/ carbs - then I'm sure you will feel a huge difference within a couple of weeks. Best of luck!

Thanks for the encouragement! I'm not a coffee drinker but sugar and carbs are my downfall. I really think I'm going to do good on this though. I can prepare evening meals and have enough to take to lunch the next day. Plus I have so much variety that do not think I will get tired of it so easily. However, my co-worker just called and asked if I would like to have a Cappacino with a ham and cheese biscuit for breakfast tomorrow morning! She's so nice, but I declined saying that I would just pass. So I know I will have some obstacles and rough places, but I'm doing great at this point in my first day!

that's excellent self control, I hope your friend didn't take it personally! ... I found that eating out was a real problem, because you don't know how restaurants prepare their food. They will throw in the fat/ salt/ sugar because for them it's TASTE that sells, and not the healthier meals. I've found that I eat at home far more now... at least you know what you're eating when you prepare things yourself... But I do miss going out for a croissant, a cappacino, or sushi! These are all fine occassionally, but this was my old routine every day! Keep up the good work.
