Into week 2 now of calorie counting. So far so good. For some reason the app on my phone does not synchronise with the one on my laptop despite the email address and password being the same on each. So over the weekend I listed my food and then added it in this morning. I knew I'd eaten a lot yesterday because I actually felt ill last night. However, this morning on logging all the food in my food diary I can see that despite feeling too full I still only ate approx 600 cals less than my old average! I think this bears out my theory about portion sizes. So no weight loss to record today - hardly surprising. Tomorrow I have my phone apt with the physio and the weight I give her then will decide if I go on the surgery list. My plan for this week is more movement and more calorie counting. I'd like to see another 2lb weight loss next week. Good luck all

Well here I go again. Same goal, a different year! It's like being on a not-so-merry-go-round.
This time has to be different. Both of my knees need replacing as soon as possible and I need to drop 1 more BMI point to get on the list and then as much as possible in the run up to surgery.
Since Christmas I have lost over a stone, but, that was on one of these eating plans. They provide packets of food that you mix with water. I liked it because I like the idea of actually eating food and using a knife and fork. But at the end of the day it was all processed and I craved fresh, real food.
Today I am going back to calorie counting, it's the only thing that has ever really worked for me. Going against me though, is my appalling memory. I forget to log food, I even forget I'm on a diet some days! Also, my husband has a sweet tooth and is a feeder, so I'm going to try to build into my plan enough left over calories for a treat in an evening, so I don't feel left out.
I recently did the NHS Wellbeing for Life programme. What I learnt from it is that my portion control is really bad. What I learnt from the food plan I've just completed is that I really can be full on smaller portions.
So, with calorie control, sensible shopping and food choices I reckon I feel more equipped this time than ever before. I need the knees and life really cannot start again without them.
I struggle with mobility a lot now and am desperate to get another rescue dog but will not allow myself to get one until such time as I can walk them more than I do now.
