Finally (!), the weight seems to be coming down. I almost don't dare to hope!

I'm keeping track of calories, fat, net carbs, and protein, and seeing how closely they come to keto standards I've read about. Based on that so far, my calories and fat have been too high, and my protein too low. I'm not really changing anything yet; just watching, and seeing how what I'm eating is making me feel (and, of course, whether it's influencing the scale at all. Which it ... seems to be ...)

The biggest change I've made in the last two weeks has to do with *when* I have the most calories.

Since I started my Lenten experiment of cutting out dairy, I've branched out a little with my coffee (mostly trying to make it palatable. I really love my coffee in the morning, and even a time or two throughout the day, and I didn't hold back on the heavy whipping cream). Anyway, I've been starting my day with a variation on Leanne Vogel's "Rocket Fuel Latte." The original recipe adds coconut oil, cacao butter, hemp seeds, a touch of sweetener, and gelatin to the hot coffee in a high-speed blender. The result is pleasantly thick and foamy, but I don't like the taste of the hemp or the cacao butter. So I've just started only adding double the coconut oil, sweetener, and gelatin. I actually like it!

Problem is, too many calories first thing in the day. If I eat breakfast, too, a couple hours later, I've already consumed something like 1200 calories by 9 am. I have found that scary, with the potential to backfire.

Except, it really hasn't. It's forced me to notice whether or not I'm actually ... *hungry* when mealtimes come up. Often, I'm not. The past two days, I didn't even want dinner.

I don't do any "intermittent fasting" because the fear of not getting enough to eat is big with me. But my "Rocket Fuel Latte" is the only thing I've had to eat since about 3:00 yesterday (15 hours), and I'm not the least bit hungry. According to Vogel, this doesn't even "count" toward breaking the fast (do I believe that? Not sure), but if that's so, I am naturally and easily going 18 hours without eating.

TLDR: I'm eating more of my calories earlier in the day, learning to notice when I'm actually hungry, and trying not to get too hung up on calories/macros, though I'm keeping track. And the weight is starting to come off. (I hope!!!)

Holding steady. Still no dairy . . . still no weight loss.

At least it's not a weight *gain.*

Something is going on here. Don't know why the weight came on so fast, but it just won't come off! As a roller-coaster dieter from way back, this is particularly upsetting. (No, I don't want to get back on the roller coaster. But I'm not able to budge the scale downward AT ALL, and I'm at a loss as to what may be going on here. Zero cheating. Zero!)

Haven't added regular exercise to the routine, and I know I'm more sedentary than I was a year ago (for a number of reasons). Don't think that fully explains it -- seems like water weight, but the traditional things I've done to counteract that haven't done a thing. But exercise always makes things work more efficiently, so it certainly couldn't hurt.

Plan to try regular walking. Used to do a lot, and enjoyed. Could probably do a lot more, but I know myself too well: If it's too much and too different, I won't do it for long. So I'll start here, doing something I know I can commit to, and see if it helps.
