Another drop today, .4 lbs. This makes five days in a row dropping after a week of climbing. I did do the elliptical for another 10 minutes yesterday. I'm pleased that it has been going well and not causing pain. If it keeps going smoothly I may try to add a few more minutes next week. Not sure that I will try it today, though, as I do not feel well this morning. Right now my plan is to take my car in to be serviced, then find my way back home to bed. I think it's a cold but it makes me feel like I just want to lay my head down.

Luckily I planned out some easy foods for today (assuming I have appetite for them). I am going with a toaster waffle (with extra protein) and banana for breakfast, took chili from the freezer for lunch (with salad), and salmon filet with baked sweet potato and broccoli for dinner. Snacks, greek yogurt, nuts, and fruit. Can't remember my exact calories yesterday, but was right around 1700.

Down another .2 lbs. This week is wonderful compared to last week. I feel like I'm getting stuck in a rut with my foods though....need to branch out a little and not eat the same things so often. I'm digging through recipes looking for something new to try.

Stuck with the meal plan yesterday, added in some sugar free Hershey's dark chocolate as a treat in the evening, as I still had calories to spare and it satisfies my sweet tooth. Ended up at 1753 calories for the day, still under my 1800 limit and met my nutritional goals. I did 10 minutes on the elliptical again yesterday, cautiously. It went well and no spasms this time. Will continue with caution.

Today's meal plan is set...egg whites with veggies and avocado for breakfast. Using some leftover grilled chicken to make a wrap for lunch, with a cup of tomato soup. Dinner is an easy meal I found a couple of weeks ago...one baking dish, chicken, red potatoes, and green beans drizzled with olive oil and dry Italian seasoning mix then baked. Yogurt, nuts, and fruit for snacks.

Now this is more like it, a .4 lb drop. I'm thinking more and more the flaxseed was the culprit. It feels good to see a real drop after that.

I tried out the elliptical yesterday. Jury is still out. It didn't hurt while I was on it, but had some spasms in the bum hip a little later when I had to walk a bit for shopping. Will go very slow with this and listen to my body for any more signs. Probably won't get on it every day either...maybe try every other day. I stayed on for 10 minutes though, a small victory. I would like to try the stationary bike today, but will see if I have any more of those spasms first.

Stuck with my meal plan yesterday. Since I had calories left I did have some sugar free candy in the evening. Ended up at 1699 for the day yesterday. Today I have a lot of work to accomplish, so will be a pretty simple food day...oatmeal with fruit for breakfast, tuna sandwich and a cup of tomato soup for lunch, baked pork chop with broccoli and brown rice for dinner. Need to add a salad in there somewhere. Snacks will be a smoothie, yogurt, nuts. I'm ready to do this.

Another small drop, .2 lbs. Not much, but it's my lowest since I saw the doctor in early December and after a week of creeping up, up, up, I'm satisfied with it. The lack of exercise is frustrating, because I'm sure I could lose more weight if I could do something. Still toying with the stationary bike, but my limitations make me feel like I'm not really getting a workout.

We ate at Chilis yesterday. I like that they have their nutritional info so easy to locate online. I had a chicken tostada (330 calories), a bowl of soup (110 calories) and half my serving of black beans (55 calories). Skipped the rice. That was my big indulgence for our one restaurant meal of the week. My calories for the day were 1601.

A family member in another state sent me some raw whipped honey. I'm trying to cut back on using artificial sweeteners, and she is a "clean eater" and suggested I try it. Used a teaspoonful in a cup of green tea yesterday and it was really good. I'm going to start using it (in moderation) for things like teas, smoothies, and yogurts.

Today's meal plan is pretty set, and should end up at around 1500 calories. Had two small wheat pancakes with blueberries for breakfast. Lunch will be a baked pork chop with broccoli and brown rice (fruit for dessert). Dinner...I have veggies I need to use up, so grilled chicken tenders, roasted radishes (a new recipe I tried and liked...when roasted they taste similar to small potatoes), and salad.

Finally...it's been up and down this week, mostly up, but today I'm .2 lbs below my low of a week ago. Factors that may be involved...I slept late this morning so weighed about 2 hours later than usual. Also, after reading and researching on Mayo Clinic's site, I have come to wonder if the ground flaxseed I was including in a lot of my food the past week was actually contributing to the weight gain (Mayo says it can go either way, depending on the individual). Most reports I had read said it was good for helping you lose weight....and it added a few nutrients, so I gave it a shot. Looking over my food journal from the time the spike started, I noted that it started when I started using the Flaxseed. I cut it out two days ago, and today finally am back where I was. That's not definitive proof it was responsible, but it's enough to give me pause so I'm staying away from it this week and see what happens.

Saturdays are always a challenge because we eat out as a family. I really prefer preparing my own food right now. As soon as a restaurant is decided I will research what the healthier options are there. I don't want to take a cheat day when I'm just getting the scale moving in the right direction.
